Rovinj’s Artistic Heartbeat

Grisia Street is more than just a road — it’s an open-air gallery. Known locally as “Ulica Umjetnosti,” or Street of Art, it winds uphill from Balbi’s Arch toward the Church of St. Euphemia.

Each summer, Grisia transforms into a colorful, bustling festival of creativity during the Grisia Art Exhibition, an event that’s been held since 1967. Artists from across Croatia and beyond line the cobbled street with paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and handmade crafts, turning the street into a vibrant cultural celebration.

Even outside the festival, Grisia is home to many permanent galleries and artisan shops. You’ll find original artworks, locally made jewelry, and handcrafted souvenirs that reflect Istria’s spirit.

Whether you’re an art lover or casual traveler, Grisia offers a sensory experience — with cobblestones underfoot, art all around, and sea views peeking through side alleys.
