Echoes of Civic Life

The Town Clock and City Palace are central features of Rovinj’s main square, known as Trg Marsala Tita. Together, they represent Rovinj’s historical and administrative heart.

The Town Clock, with its 16th-century mechanism, stands as a symbol of order and civic pride. The red façade and the lion of St. Mark above the dial hint at the town’s Venetian past.

Right next to it, the City Palace (Gradska Palaca) served as the seat of Rovinj’s government. Its blend of architectural styles — Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque — reveals the layers of history embedded in the city.

Today, both buildings house administrative offices, but they remain important symbols of Rovinj’s political and cultural evolution. It’s the ideal place to start or end a walking tour, with plenty of cafés nearby for people-watching or a relaxing drink.
