The Istrian Puppet Theatre Festival is not just an event; it’s a celebration of creativity and imagination that engages audiences of all ages. Families can take part in interactive storytelling sessions, where they can learn about the history and significance of puppetry in various cultures. This festival serves as an educational platform, showcasing how puppetry can be a form of art that transcends generations. Attendees will discover the fascinating origins of puppetry, which dates back thousands of years and spans across numerous cultures around the globe.
The festival also highlights local and international talent, featuring various puppet troupes that present unique perspectives on traditional stories. For example, visitors can experience the enchanting performance of ‘The Little Mermaid’, which takes a new twist that combines classic puppetry techniques with modern storytelling elements. Children and adults alike will be captivated as puppeteers bring the characters to life with their incredible skills and creativity.
In addition to these performances, one of the festival’s standout features is the puppet-making workshops. Here, participants can unleash their creativity by crafting their own puppets under the guidance of experienced artisans. This hands-on experience not only teaches valuable crafting skills but also allows families to bond over a fun and creative activity. Each puppet made can become a cherished keepsake that reminds attendees of the magical moments spent at the festival.
The festival welcomes children, youth, and adults with an exciting program of puppet parades, interactive workshops, and free live performances.
