Rovinj’s Iconic Landmark with Panoramic Views

Standing tall above Rovinj’s skyline, the Church of St. Euphemia is more than just a religious landmark — it’s a symbol of the town’s soul. Built in the early 18th century in the Baroque style, the church is dedicated to Saint Euphemia, the town’s patron saint whose sarcophagus rests within.

Legend tells of how her remains miraculously arrived in Rovinj during a storm in the year 800 AD, carried in a marble sarcophagus that locals could not move — until a young boy with two calves pulled it effortlessly, signaling divine intervention. Today, the church remains a sacred site and a testament to Rovinj’s faith and resilience.

The bell tower, modeled after the campanile of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, offers unrivaled panoramic views of Rovinj, the Adriatic Sea, and the nearby islands. On a clear day, you can even see all the way to Italy!

Inside, admire 17th-century altarpieces and sculptures, as well as the beautifully painted ceilings and detailed woodwork. Whether you climb the tower for a breathtaking photo or attend a quiet mass, this is an unmissable stop.
